A wide range of pleasures await you, from quiet hot springs in the mountains
to Western-style hot springs to be enjoyed in a swimsuit. Lie back in your
favorite hot spring and refresh your body and soul.
[A] Ureshino Hot Springs (Ureshino City Ureshino Town)
Ureshino Hot Spring Town prospered as a lodging site along the Nagasaki-Kaido
Highway in the Edo period. This is a nostalgic and historic hot spring
town which Siebold, a renowned German scholar, visited in 1826. Ureshino
is famous for its skin-beautifying hot water. Once you try a spa with the

Ureshino's specialty.
[B] Takeo Hot Springs - Romon Gate (Takeo City)
The symbol of Takeo Hot Springs is the vermillion Romon Gate resembling
an imaginary sea palace. This gate was constructed in 1914 based on the
design by Tatsuno Kingo who was born in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture and
also designed Tokyo Station, which was made of red bricks. Many celebrities,
such as the Lord of the Saga Clan, Miyamoto Musashi, a well-known swordsman
of the Edo period, and Siebold, a German scholar, took a bath here. A public
bath located at the back of the Romon Gate was privatized in the Meiji
era and has a nostalgic atmosphere.

springs, but also many artists such as Aoki Shigeru, a painter, and Saito
Mokichi, a poet and doctor. Its hot water is slightly thick, has no color,
smell nor taste and is about 34.5-43.6 degrees C. Kumanokawa Hot Springs,
which are located in the same town as Furuyu, is a small hot spring town
along the lower stream of Kase River. The Radon content of its hot water
is one of the largest in Kyushu. You will feel like spending hours in the
spas, which are traditionally of a mild temperature.
